Challenge:
Credit card users frequently miss out on perks and savings by not using the appropriate card for specific purchases and often overlook activating available offers.
Objective:
Create a service that allows credit card users to easily identify where and how to maximize their credit card usage, ensuring they save more money effortlessly.
Imagine unlocking the full potential of Uthrive with just a simple step: linking and verifying your bank accounts through Plaid's API. Once your data flows into Uthrive, we get to work—uncovering missed rewards, highlighting earned ones, presenting tailored offers, and so much more. Think of it as having a personal financial assistant that's always on the lookout for you. The more accounts you link, the richer and more robust your experience becomes, painting a complete picture of your financial landscape. And for those who choose to go premium, there's an entire suite of exclusive features and offers waiting to elevate your journey even further.
We start the app with simple yet effective messaging, encouraging users to dive in and start saving immediately.
The sign-in process is quick and easy, utilizing either SMS or email verification. Once verified, users are immediately prompted to connect to Plaid, allowing Uthrive to import necessary transaction data from their financial institutions.
Since our initial launch, the homepage has been anything but static. As the product's requirements and capabilities have grown, the homepage has evolved through multiple iterations. It doesn't just look different—it behaves differently. Depending on whether accounts are linked or not, it dynamically switches out modules, presenting users with a tailored experience.
On the left, you'll see the most current version—a culmination of all our advancements. To the right, in chronological order, are the earlier versions. Each one tells a part of our story, showcasing how we've continuously refined and improved along the way.
One of the key features of the app is the Earned/Missed Rewards function. This feature provides a comprehensive overview of the rewards you've earned from credit card transactions and helps you optimize your credit card usage. If you're missing rewards by using the wrong cards in the wrong places, the app will suggest better cards to use, even those not currently in your collection. As you develop the habit of using the right cards, your earned rewards will increase, and your missed rewards will decrease.
The Personalized Advice section offers a side-by-side comparison of your current card with other cards that may provide better benefits in specific categories. We'll recommend cards that could be more advantageous for you.
The Estimate Rewards section helps you identify the best credit card to use at each merchant and shows how much you can save, making it a valuable tool for planning big purchases at your favorite stores. You can use this feature for up to 10 searches; after that, you'll need to sign up for our premium service to unlock unlimited searches. Additionally, we offer a map feature that displays real-time savings at local merchants.
For non-members, we provide a sales landing page that leads to the payment process. Users can access this page in multiple ways: by tapping the Premium section in the app's navigation bar, clicking on banners on the homepage, or through the gated experience in the Estimate Rewards section.
Uthrive Premium enhances your experience with several powerful features. It automatically activates offers for you, gathers all your activated offers in one convenient place, allows you to adjust reward settings for better optimization, and provides unlimited searches in the Estimate Rewards section.
Solution:
Over the past three years, I worked directly with the CEO of Uthrive (former Director of Innovation at AMEX) as a design partner. I was responsible for all design aspects, including app design, site design, and marketing collaterals. The app has been well received, boasting a 4.6 rating on the App Store and tens of thousands of customers.
